Today would’ve been my husband Peter’s 76th birthday…he sadly died in 2010 at only 63, dashing our hopes of retiring to the Malaysian island of Langkawi, where we intended taking our 35 ft motor yacht to hire out to tourists on fishing trips in the Andaman Sea. It wasn’t to be…but in memory of Peter and those pipe dreams here is a favourite song of his by John Denver with an ocean flavour and named for Jacques Cousteau’s boat - Calypso…

My husband wanted to drive across Canada for retirement, until a second heart attack, followed by a stroke, took away his driving license at age 47. We did manage to do 2 Alaskan cruises, & a rail tour in 2001, 2004, & 2011, before we decided we'd had enough travel. Things don't always go the way you think they will.

My 76th birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks. My partner died in 2016 at the age of 62. She had decided to quite working and spend the time getting more involved with this amazing community. One day after he last day at work she was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumor. It was a good death. I can deeply emphasize with you.
