Tomorrow it’ll be 50 years…on 6th April 1974 - since the world first heard of the Swedish quartet of two husbands & wives who called themselves by the stage name of ABBA. That was when they won the Eurovision Song Contest for Sweden in Brighton, U.K. The song was of course Waterloo, and it became just the first in a colossal run of hits and made them one of the biggest selling acts in history…here they are performing it live for a second time after being declared the winners…

Without this one you’d probably never have heard of any of the others! I think neither Wellington nor Napoleon are relevant …they’re only symbolic lyrically to carry the tune which is catchy as hell!
@Marionville Now here is an interesting fact I heard on CBC tonight: ABBA sang Waterloo on that Eurovision song contest and it was not very favoured. The ten British judges dismissed it ,,,, but within about a week it was number one in Britain!
@rogerbenham Just goes to show that whoever were judging for the UK weren't in touch with what the public like!
