Baaba Maal is a singer and guitarist from the north of Senegal. He released a few discs in the 1990s and early 2000s, and helped other Senegalese artists like Positive Black Soul achieve prominence. This is "Sama Duniya" from his 1994 release, "Firin' in Fouta"

I don't even care that I do not understand the lyrics; the rhythm and syncopate are fascinating. Thank you for posting this. Africa is truly the area of the world to listen to now.
