Good entertaining video. Never a problem with most of my ex's even with poor communication. Dan and I discussed every aspect of a sex life before and when we were first sexually active. We discovered that we were pleasantly well matched and continue to get to know each other intimately. We are past having children of our own and focus on ourselves which is nice.

An editorial in the Atlantic Monthly [theatlantic.com] is titled "The Sex Recession". I haven't read it yet but it was commented on, on NPR. I think the increased pressures by work and especially kids produce a lot of pressures and sex is often one victim. I agree with the problem of loneliness as we are social animals and we need connections with others especially another, special person. Yes, technology can make the problems worse. Sex should never end but for some of us it does through no fault of our own.

Growing up in a Catholic family sex was never, ever discussed. But it obviously was practices as there were 7 of us (which did not include one miscarriage). Family planning happened because my dad snored and my mother slept on the couch downstairs. Having had numerous relationships the sex was often different with different partners. Now came my last, and late partner. I was 53 and she was 37 and both of us had evolved and the satisfaction of each other was paramount. Some things I learned from this site about her and her former, abusive husband (they grew up in Iran with it's extreme paternalistic culture) was not only a shock but also made me realize why she felt the way she did about certain things. Luckily I didn't question her feelings as her satisfaction was the main goal for me. As time happened things got a little slow and once we moved to the island she was gone a lot (sub-teaching in Seattle, visiting her brother in Vancouver, BC and sons in Denver, Richmond VA and traveling with others. The alone time actually helped our relationship but there were times I and probably she was feeling aroused. We made an agreement masturbation was a natural part of sex and we even agreed if we were together and one was aroused and the other wasn't, masturbation was not only OK but could be mutually performed together. We had no marital problems but the sex did slow down. It is the usual familiarity breed contempt issue which we recognized and tried to work on it. After her death I realized perhaps not as much as we should have.

Isn't that the truth.

@FrayedBear yes unfortunately, sex just becomes boring I’m afraid if you don’t communicate or at least explore other ways to be intimate. I was married to a conservative Christian man(conservative in the bedroom) we discussed what I needed and it never once happened in 20 yrs, he couldn’t understand why we didn’t have much sex. Sometimes you are just not well matched sexually.

Wow... I guess I won't get married then lol

Why spoil a good thing? Lol.

Don't end up like the 27 or 28-year old I recently talked to on book who had five children under eight. Presumably because of the demands of such a brood of youngsters she thought the act of sex should not last more than five minutes and be very very vigorous. Lmao and suggested that she should read a little about tantric sex.

certainly don't have children before you're 35 LOL, or what did she say? 45?

@celticagent I'm 28 and already pregnant lol
