Burdens and Profits: the Missed Conversations about Obamacare

[ghionjournal.com]

(Placing the onus on consumers is exactly what Obamacare did, by mandating coverage through financial coercion and eliminating the single player option, the ACA was nothing more than a value added tax that increased the revenues of healthcare corporations by taxing consumers.)

I was one of those consumers. I know there are people who this programed help, all to well. Being for the first year I told my story on social media I was called a liar and troll, seemingly unending. But as Teodrose Fikre reminds us, that's missing the point of the illusion of divisional divide. It misses the initial intent we were lead to believe a new program was to bring us.

The year ACA went into effect, my our employer dropped our HC program. I went from paying out of my check roughly $125 a month. To $438 the first year. That was a private insurance through a previous company, Metropolitan who grouped us, who insured us as an independent company before we were bought out that our office manager set up for us. Through the government site we were all mostly looking at a $500 range. The second year they were going to raise my premium to close to $500. So I went into the market site and got set up for United HC who quoted me $425. After the dead line went by they insisted a law here in Ohio would raise me up to $548. Didn't explain whether they made a mistake in the quote or if the law just went into effect. My first red flag. I had issues with their site getting my payment in the fist month, now looking at a 2 month first payment. Red flag 2. To go with a $1200 increase of year one now. Dead line has passed, I have no choice other than drop out and pay the penalty and lose big if a serious condition arises.

!!!Do not get United Heath Care for your medical Insurance!!! Fair warning! I went in to do the wellness check up towards the end of the year and they stuck me with the charges that are suppose to be covered. Told my doctor my coverage had been dropped. Leaving me the office call and blood work to pay for, nearly $500. This is the end of October. Yet went into my bank account and took out the next 2 months of premium payments to finish the year, $1096. Then at tax time only sent me 11 months of information I needed for filing. I ended up paying a penalty anyways. Roughly half of what I usually get back in taxes, at least $600. Then sent me the information for filing for Dec, my 12th month, in July, past the dead line for filing taxes. Lawyer quoted me $250 an hour to handle the case. Told me to eat it! It doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why he told me that. I guess I was hoping a few calls by a lawyer who knows the industry could work this out quickly.

I don't know about you but that's a lot of money to me. I struggled for 2 years putting over 13 grand into my health care unable to do anything to the house as my savings was taking a major blow. UHC still to this day sends me mail with the idea I'm still a client of theirs. Their web site obviously isn't coordinated with the rest of the company departments, or departments coordinated with each other. Use at your own risk!

ACA was a redistribution of wealth from middle class workers without employer programs to benefit the health care industry. But even that isn't entirely accurate. Because even those with employer programs seen substantial increases to their programs. After 2 years of independently paying my own I went to Mary's program. While it was saving me it was still quite a bit more. Our employer last year brought our program back and is still at my first year level of ACA. We've just been numbed down to believe we have something good while the health care corporations and their stock holders have been vastly benefiting at our expense.

You can apply this systematic agenda to tax breaks, bailouts, subsidies, bankruptcies, environment clean up, etc, that we continue to pay more for as time goes by. Letting corporations off the hook of being a fair participant of society. And when we bicker between ourselves over a program as bad or good because we look at it only as individuals, we deserve the numbness that comes with the downfall of the injustice it really is. And the ongoing argument of medicare for all within the same corporate entities, I fear will be just another quagmire that keeps us numb to the end result. I was a liar and a troll for over a year until other people started talking out. I rest my case!

There was some very negative issues with the ACA. Of course the people who would most benefit ended up writing the legislation which is why it was so unwielding. The government also was unaware how ill the people who needed coverage were, so much was undocumented especially in poor rural areas. That said, as long as big corporate writes the rules we will never have quality healthcare for all, and that includes dental and mental.
The question is how to change this? How do we educate people so they vote in their best interest?
