Over the past few weeks, our publication #GhionJournal has seen a big influx of new traffic as our audience grew from hundreds of people a day visiting our website to thousands. Which then leads to the next logical question: what caused this sudden explosion of hits?

Though the articles from the Ghion Journal have been getting picked up by more and more respected publications like Consortium News, Naked Capitalism and Black Agenda Report to name a few, the exponential growth of readers is not owed to any one event.

Rather, what took place is the network effect kicking in. The first adopters, the initial readers and supporters of the Ghion Journal, went from being passive observers of our endeavor to fervent supporters of our mission and our core purpose.

To be honest, our initial supporters fell in love with what are trying to accomplish. In the process, they came to depend on the Ghion Journal as a safe place for discourse without fire and debates without insults.

Armed with an enthusiasm to encourage us and make our effort sustainable, the first adopters were determined to let others know about us. One by one, they started reaching out to their network of friends and family and impressed upon their peers to check out our publication.

It was only a matter of time before we hit breakout point. Sometime over the past couple of weeks, that is precisely what happened. Our traffic grew exponentially—thousands of people are now reading our website daily.

This trajectory will only go upward from here. I am sharing this with you not because our aim is to be in the mainstream but to prove that doing the right things can yield results. With little resources and zero financial backing outside of the contributions from our readers and viewers, we have raised a publication that is a legitimate news source for thousands of people around the world.

Our "noble experiment" has many facets to it, but some of the central tenets are that a news source can be inclusive instead of divisive, can strive to edify instead of inciting emotions, can cater to thinkers instead of offering sensationalism and thrive in the process. You proved us right.

We want to thank all the new readers who are just finding out about us, you have a home here where free-thought is valued more than ideology. To our existing readers and viewers, thank you! You truly are the ink in our pens.

Most important though, continue to advocate on our behalf and letting others know about us. Our voices are indiscernible compared to the megaphone of mainstream media, but with enough people banding together and sharing our articles, we can make a dent in the wall of lies. Dents lead to cracks, cracks lead to chasms and in time perhaps we can have a paradigm where truly independent journalists are seen as the rightful keepers of a free-press and mainstream media will be relegated as nothing more than the entertainment that they are.

We are David going up against the Goliath of corporate media, but with a dedicated readership and a growing audience on GhionTV, we can do the unimaginable and fell giants. These things would not be possible without the support and encouragement of our readers, for that we are all eternally grateful.
