They even waited until the last minute to get out of Vietnam, not because of the protests, but because they were getting their asses kicked and saw they couldn't achieve their goal of helping the French/Japanese keep colonialism and imperialism of the region. The U.S. joined the war and of course what did they say they were fighting? Communism. The U.S. joined the war in 1965 and protests started in 1965. They didn't leave Vietnam until 1973. It took 8 years for the protests to take hold? No. I don't think so.
The protests against the Iraq war started in 2002. In 2003, 36 million people around the world, including in America, protested the Iraq war months before the war started. The U.S. did what they wanted regardless.
What did Occupy Wall Street really accomplish in the big picture?
Protestors were ignored.
I mean it can be argued that there were minor accomplishments that pushed back against the system, but no significant changes have been made in terms of foreign policy and corporate policy.
It's always been right wing vs left wing, and the right wing doesn't give a shit about protests. They are authoritarian and aggressive in what they want or else they wouldn't be invading other countries. The only time they will stop what they are doing is if it's not benefiting them anymore. Not because people are against what they're doing. By the very nature of their authoritarian and aggressive ways, their victims and opposition will be against them. What does that matter to them?
The right wing will not stop trying to invade or take over left wing countries because of protests. Look at all the push back on Venezuela FOR DECADES!!! They're still trying to fuck shit up there!
