Let this sink in for a moment, if you need a moment. Every town around yours puts up walls to keep you in. Raised with razor wire at the top and every so many yards is a tower with snipers and machine guns. Cutting off any real substance of water, food, and medical supplies. Occasionally, after a bombing of false pretense, sends in soldiers there after to harass which ends up with what is usually a dead kid. Or they come in with a false suspicion and take away a family member you know you most likely will never see again. Kidnappings, murder, just random harassment. Almost everything you need for basic survival you need to make or find within these walls, only! What help from the outside you get has become little for those who have attempted have been labeled terrorist supporters, falsely.
One thing not mentioned in this article is the claim Hamas is using these people as shields. Hamas is not present there to use them god dammit! The only shield being used is the smoke from the burning tires in a futile attempt to keep from being shot. I will give NPR a tiny credit today for slightly attempting to hint at some truth. But they are still allowing the establishment talking points to white wash that with the majority of time given.

For centuries, while the Jews were dispersed across the globe, the Arabs did nothing constructive with the land.
A bit of subshistence farming, a few villages.
Post WW2 many sold land to Jewish settlers, gleefully ridding themselves of bits of desert and swamp, unproductive land for money.
Then they started a war to eliminate the Jews, and lost.
Then tried the same thing a few more times, and lost.
Meanwhile, the Jews formed their own nation, turned that unproductive land into agricultural oases, built a modern democracy with modern infrastructure, brought in more migrants from the diaspora, and, wherever they established a community, brought forth life from previously desert lands.
The modern Israel is inclusive: Jews, Christians, Moslems, Cruze, Baha'i and others can all worship whomever they will, or not worship anything, as they will.
It includes people from many races and colours, all age groups, abilities, sexual orientation.
It includes people with drive and ambition who work to make their world a better place.
In most fields of human endeavour, you'll find Israelis in the top quartile of worldwide achievement.
Now, look across the border:. A monotheistic bunch of people whose only driving force is to kill Jews.
United only in their jealousy of Israel's success, they squander what little talent they have, with young engineers making weapons instead of something to improve their lot.
Read " Palestinian" and most will translate it as plane hijackings, bombings, kidnap, murder, stabbings, car attacks, and generally being tiresome.
The other Arab nations don't want them, no other nation wants them, and they're reliant on charity just to exist.
A wise person in such a situation might give themselves a shake, and set to to improve their life by working.
What we see, in practice, is hordes of fighting age young males, spurred on by older ( but no wiser) men, repeatedly following the ritual rioting whenever they feel aggrieved.
And losing. Every single time.
One definition of stupidity is continuing to do a thing the same way, while hoping for a different outcome.
One hopes that, somewhere, there are Palestinians who realise how pointless their continual whining and victimhood is, and look to a more practical, peaceful way forward.

I feel so sad for you! To be so lost in the illusion of a managed perception of false manipulation and brainwashing. On a place some decades ago was self abstaining consisting of some of the best doctors and professors and decent societies of the world. A place where many abroad use to go to attend collage because of those professors and doctors. A place I remember reading about in the 80s when both these people struggled to understand what and why the winds of change was going on with their neighbors they had live beside and shared life with for decades. Obviously with that generation gone, so is the truth of its history. Your attempt to replace that history with what it's like there today is disgusting. Your attempt to ignore and justify the slaughter of a people with your ignorant or purposeful analysis is horrific and down right frightening to a civilized society. While you are incorrectly able of placing a murderous agenda onto the victims while at the same time find justice for the oppressors committing the murders.
I feel we were the catalyst in these more recent escalation of violence.
