She can make anything (like cheesecake) and it would be totally vegan and few could tell. It just so happens their daughter is one of the researchers for "impossible Foods" and they have been telling me of the progress that has taken years to develop. they said the product would first come out in restaurants and then, if it is received well, it will be put out to the general public. Even I haven't tried it.

I went to a restaurant in LA and ordered one. I couldn't wait cause I've been reading about it. They served it as a cheeseburger, but the cheese was regular, not plant based. Ok. I could skip the cheese. Then they tell me, the bun has egg. So I'll have to have it like a low calorie plate at Howard Johnson's. So I get it and ask for ketchup. Turns out they make their own ketchup and use anchovies. I have a sore spot regarding these burgers. And LA. And life.

Wow, another of these coincidences for me. Just this afternoon I went to a small vegan/gluten free bakery restaurant and sampled a Falafel Gyros. I saw a guy with a burger and asked if the bun was bought from a noted GF baker in the area or their own creation (3 women own and operate the restaurant). They said it was their own and that they have 5 different mixes they use depending on the item. The gyros is one mix and the burger bun would be another.
The most obnoxious thing is that they advertised it as a vegan meal, but fail to put on the menu that it's only 1/8 vegan. My omnivorously-inclined friends invited me to a restaurant and specifically chose this particular restaurant so that we all could eat there. They saw vegan on the menu and felt safe to invite me... but it was the same exact scenario. Ugh.
