@glennlab Brrrrrrr, very glad we're having a milder November here! I hope to be able to do some walking outdoors before the rain comes in next week. I overdid it a bit yesterday, stayed up walking around for too long and my leg became swollen. Much better this morning and trying to be more cautious. I'm really a rotten patient.

@Triphid Aww, c'mon, back down a bit! The man wants to contribute as a member of an organization that suits his values, without the decision making piece, given he has a life of responsibilities and decisions already. That is a good and reasonable decision. This has nothing at all to do with deciding not to be a follower of religion, Triphid. The best volunteer I ever did was working in the kitchen of Meals on Wheels, filling tray after tray with the food of the day like an automaton, elbow to elbow with an amazing assortment of people. It was hectic, tiring, mindless work that served hundreds daily, and a great break from my own life of decisions and business responsibilities.

@AmmaRE007 Exactly, the concept of borrowed time is always a future consideration, so entirely unpredictable, unpromised. In light of the average human lifespan, I think all of us over 60 are qualified for that concept, our continued time here borrowed from the reality of the majority.

I live in a very level neighborhood, so they were fantastic for walking streets/sidewalks in that icy, snowy winter, but I will bear in mind your advice against using them on inclines. Thanks!

@RavenCT I tend to agree, and it is increasingly apparent here in Oregon as you see folks in all public places, driving, walking, as well as in the workplace, who are obviously affected. Yes, we all have the right to "choose our poison", but the climate of open use and availability has created a different animal. I am hoping for at least a partial pendulum swing just to stabilize behavioral norms.
