Because it is the holy book of a death cult?

The people who wrote it did not have a large vocabulary.

I prefer the term smiting..is that the correct spelling? I smite..you smite we smite..
Smiting is killing..and some..not just regular killing.. I think in biblical terms..they liked to make absolutely sure you were dead..for definate.
They were legends for smiting people back then.

They LOVED to smite.

Old testament wrath? Human Sacrifice?
"And God said to Abraham; "Kill me a son""
Lots of good killin' in that book!

simple. The god of the jews was a war god, possibly an actual volcano. in any case he was awfully fond of smiting and destroying things with fire and brimstone (sulfur in modern parlance) he commanded armies to destroy villages, commit atrocities and take slaves... and these are all hallmarks of tribal warfare.

Dammit ! He just wanted mire wives to screw !

Hey! I may have to look into this !!

I sourced from Richard Carrier and Aaron Ra, also both these guys have ah - mazing talks available on YouTube.

Because it is ok to kill if you do it in the name of God. But it makes me think of that song from years ago, "One Tin Soldier" from the movie Legend of Billy Jack. Coven did the US release of that song and it is the antithesis of killing

You getting your gods mixed up ?

@VAL3941 I don't think so? I'm missing your reference.

Because it is more gruesome than " hurt "
