Gender, When people talk about the imaginary deity they assign a sex to it. I have questioned this in the past. I have never gotten an answer. If the people that had invented the primary deity would have been a tad smarter they would have assigned a male and female deities as separate entities. The control factor would have gone way up.

The wiccans have this. Pan and venus. The group I studied with prayed to these two.

What’s the point? In the societies where these myths were invented, women had little to no power. Creating a female deity would only serve to disrupt the male power structure.

Gender in religion has always been interesting to me. Having grown up in a patriarchal tradition, I was always more curious to learn about the early matriarchal ones. Studied them a bit. It's a curious element of human history

Just looked androgynous deities is interesting history presents many of them.

In Edward Willett's sci-fi novel, "Marseguero", the deity of the religious "Body Purification" fanatics is referred to as It ans "Itself". This novel is an excellent exploration of fanatacism, racism and corruption fueled by religion. I hope to read the sequel soon.

Sounds like modern day politicians.
