Anyone taught hate, can hate.

Everyone has a choice. Don't you think?

I didn’t say that there is not a choice, I simply said that those who can, might. @Srijith

It seems to me that racists use religion as a basis for their nastiness. What rationale would an atheist have?

Very true. Thanks for your reply.

That's informative. Thanks.

Of course. Atheism and racism are separate issues. Being an atheist I don't believe in God. Being a racist is behaving in a manner that says to you people with skin color or ethnicity unlike your own are not equal to you and sub human. To me racism is the ultimate ignorance, whereas to be atheist is a measure of intelligence.

Thanks for the reply. But, can a person of intelligence be ignorant enough to believe crap. By the way, racism can not be mere ignorance. It's learned. No one is born racist.

I agree that no one is born racist. Racism is ignorance of ignoring the truth that race is made up by man to keep people separate. There is no functional reason to separate people into races, except for profit and control.

There will always be those who choose a path for reasons that might not seem obvious to others.I think being atheist/agnostic, or out of the 'normal" sphere shows some critical thinking skills that separate non believers from the rest. I got really tired of the "mysteries" answer.

Those two things aren't connected. You could be a white supremacist and not believe in the supernatural.

Thanks for your reply

There is no need for ugliness. Being an Athiest does not mean that we don't have morals and values. I feel that there is ugliness either way.

Nicely put. Thank you.

anyone can be racist it has no bearing on their religiousbeliefs. racism is a learned behavior.

True. Thank you for the reply.

An atheist can be anything they want to be. I suppose the question is, do you want to be an asshole? Racism exists in all groups of people with all different schools of thought. But I can only speak for myself and say that I am not racist and I don’t particularly care to be in the company of one.

True.

Apparently they can because I saw a racist comment posted here. You would hope that an enlightened individual regarding religion would also be enlightened as to race but having faith in humanity is many times a losing bet.

Truth there is very little difference in genetics between the racis of man so I see it as pathetic. I Judge an individual on their own individual actions. That is all.

Great. Thank you.

Of course they can-- the two subjects are not mutually exclusive. You don't have to be religious to be a hater!

Very true. Thank you.
