I have always prided myself on being and thinking with mostly common sense...but, we now need help from wherever we can obtain it...what world leader, will help us in our effort to preserve our Democracy...our very way of a workable normal society? How far will they go to help? Too many Americans have deadened their souls...to be of any help in our struggle to remove a DESPOT, as the U S PRESIDENT! Who? Where, will our help cometh?

We must fight this threat. Most other countries have almost the same fight with criminal politics. I'm afraid it will not end peacefully, because people are already dieing. News reports 30,000 nursing home residents have been evicted, and many people have died because of climate change. It will get worse and worse until resistance stiffens. I hope we can avoid civil war.

I hope we can retain our sanity, just in case of civil war! Insane people going to war, seems like an un-level playing field

@Freedompath The people have no chance in an armed conflict against the National Guard with military backup. IMO only peaceful protest has any chance of wresting control away from corporations and oligarchs.

patchoulijulie is correct...NOBODY WILL SAVE US! We have all the tools we need...ballot boxes, a Constitution, our laws and our history of activism and RESISTENCE! Now...we need to get our butts out of the chairs and VOTE! DEMONSTRATE! EDUCATE!

Encouraging...

YES... to everything you have said.

@patchoullijulie Thanks...it's like being a feminist. Prince Charming isn't real. We have to save ourselves!

No-one can save us. We have to do that ourselves. Did you know that 52 or 53% (can't remember the exact number) of repulsicans support the trash in charge. That is just scary. I am a registered democrat but where are the Democrats in all this. Don't hear much from them. I'm disappointed to say the least at their in-action. And where is the voting public? You can bet your bottom dollar that 'his' supporters will be out there voting for him in 2018 and 2020. I see no hope. I wish I could be convinced otherwise. I don't see him going anywhere soon.

Mexico & Canada.

I hope...but they don’t seem too eager, maybe they are keeping a low profile?

@Freedompath support comes in different forms ..like tariff for tariff...the only way to hurt drump is to get at him politically..people losing jobs is a major blow to his supporters..

@Charlene good point!!!

I'm afraid you're doomed. You chose Hilary over Bernie ... what more can one say (?)?

I did not choose Hillary, but I sure would never ever voted for trump...I have observed this ‘shark’ since his 20s!

Canada and Mexico?

If outside forces have any influence l believe it will have to be as a group.

Democrats have to win the House during the mid-terms and the Senate too, if they can pull it off. I've never seen anything like Trump in my adult consciousness. The part that really bothers me is so many people can't see what is so obvious to me. People who don't see the harm he's doing and actually think he's doing a good job. Part of that is the FOX"News" NRA/Republican Party cable channel. They push an alternate reality and and an alternate truth.

I have thought all the words that you wrote, almost ‘word for word!’

The biggest issue I see, is Republicans are wary of criticizing "President" Trump. Doing so alienates a significant portion of the Republican base.

I read this morning - and I've heard it before - is behind the scenes, many Republicans are quite critical of Colludin' Don. It's impossible for most people not to be able to see that he is profoundly and dangerously unqualified.

And I think on the Democrat side, I'm getting a little concerned about this trend toward political purity. We should be about forming unbeatable coalitions.

As others are commenting, the midterm elections are the best hope right now.

midterms. I agree the pain is going on too long

I think you've hit on two things... 'World leader' and 'democracy'.

I've thought about this often, and I think the best world leader is us. It's democracy.

I am caving...where are the political supporters that support the Constitution FOR the people!

@MissKathleen

Yes. I realise. And I agree

I don't endorse what we have now. It's not democracy.

1

There isn't any one person who can do that.
The ONLY ones who can achieve change are the People.
There is no "savior". That's how we ended up with 45.
Too many stupid people believed him when he said "I alone can fix this."
If we want that disgrace removed, we have to do it ourselves.

Hopefully it will come in this mid-term election. If it doesn't, then we may be in dire straits. I might add that "common sense" is completely subjective. One man's trash is another man's treasure.
