For the military history buffs. A counterfactual.
If I was a consultant to Hitler....
If I had a time machine, and the pay was good enough to assuage my stained soul (assuming I have one; but I'll take the reichsmarks and run) I would give Hitler several pieces of advice in starting the Second World War:
build more U-boats. Lots more of them;
forget the whole silly super weapon thing; build a lot more Panzer IVs. Far more mobile than Panthers or Tigers;
build heavy bombers. Messerschmitt 110s and Heinkel He 111s have their place. But, seriously dude, you want to deliver serious payload. Develop an equivalent of the Lancaster or the B-17.
leave Russia alone. Just do that.
Any other suggestions?
Had Hitler attacked east rather than east and west, he's be treated like a hero. All that "internal politics" (you know, the Jews, Roma, Slavs, mentally handicapped....) the US government would overlook.
I will go back too, turn you in as a jew and let them sort you out. By the way he couldn't leave russia along because russia had plans for germany besides germany was working in a formula to get fuel out of wood and russia had the largest forrests around.
I'm a gay socialist gypsy, so I would be right mate....
I configured this as a military counterfactual. Oh, yes, Stalin would have made his move - but so much better to be on the defensive, don't you think?
Quit while you are ahead.
I got my commission; Der Fuhrer still fucked it up. Regards from the Seychelles.
He also should have had 299 Spartans and 1 Scot:
Sure capture Gibraltar and seal off the med
I just saw a little special about Gibraltar. They just had this one old cannon. But it kicked serious ass for them.
@kauva Possession is nine tenths of the law. Gibraltar is proof of that.
