The only certainty is that i know nothing for certain other than that i am conscious, for all we know we are all in fact in the matrix, or brains in jars or all taking part in a grand hallucination where everything is opposite however this does not mean that there is certainly no purpose or that this life doesn’t matter, i’d prefer to assume it does matter in some way rather than assume it doesn’t and find out later it did however I can’t prove anything one way or the other. I know that i am conscious and that this life experience brings growth and knowledge and if my consciessness is eternal then it stands to reason I carry that growth and knowledge with me, that my soul shall evolve. I also know i like to have integrity, that wether this is a dream or not it matters not for i decide who i am and what i stand for across all realites and dreams, real or unreal the integrity of my conscience matters to me for it is not provable but possible that this reality does matter. Either way I find myself much happier and more fulfilled in doing the right thing and being a good person not to mention there can be many logical and reasons found for being moral! Wether real or not this reality is full of opposites and I know which side i prefer and so i choose my reality and my destiny.
You sound sort of like me—you must be on the right track.
Purpose and meaning are intrinsic, not extrinsic. It's not "out there" to be "found". It's in between your ears, and entirely your choice. What floats your boat and feels purposeful? That's your purpose and meaning. Don't waste your time looking for it to be bestowed upon you by someone or something else, or to stub you toe on it. Look within for the answer to that.
I agree with you that this reality is all there is whether or not it's objectively, naturalistically "real" or just an elaborate illusion or simulation of some kind.
Hi, Arpad, and welcome to the website,
You earn website points, and help other members get to know you better, when you write an informational profile that includes your hobbies and interests, and answer all the profile questions, since that's the first place many people look when they see a new member.
Also, the website uses your profile to find member matches, so the more details you include, the better the match.
Then you make comments and write your own posts to earn more points and privileges; for instance, at level two you can private email people. You get different perks with each level, and when you reach level eight you get an agnostic T-shirt.
To find members near you, click on the "Meet" button at the top of the page, then on "Members," and enter your preferred search parameters.
Or click on the "About" button at the top of the page to find links to FAQ or the website tutorial.
