Gardening tip of the day: Can't tell if it's a weed or an ornamental? Pull the plant out by the roots. If it grows back, it was a weed. If it doesn't, it was more than likely something you wanted to keep. You're welcome.

I plant a stake nearby and let it grow enough for me to be able to ID it. I've acquired black raspberries, milkweed, cinquefoil, deptford pink, hawkweed, several clovers, and yellow goatsbeard. I've had a few undesirables, but I've kept them in check.

I have a very nice crop of milkweed this year. It is biennial and blooms and pods in the second year. So I've got a few plants that will flower.
@schwinnrider I've got about an acre that I've been slowly turning into a native habitat (ssh...don't tell the Township). I'm hoping for many monarchs this year after a small turnout last year.

I've been pulling weeds all morning. I know I pulled out some regulation "plants",
but it didn't matter because they were growing where they weren't wanted.

ANYTHING growing where it's not wanted (or shouldn't be) is automatically a WEED! I have some lovely beds of ''weeds"....which make nice flowers and have nice foliage. SNEER NOT!
Did you know you can spray vinegar on weeds and kill them FAST? Just saying. Very good for those who want to come up in rocks, concrete, etc.
