Working in the yard, I heard a distress call from Lobo. I found him and the neighbor's peacock in the canal. The banks were too steep for him to climb out and he tore up a whole section of the bank trying. Now...I can't swim so I whipped out my trusty phone, trying to find some help. There is no help. No animal rescue this side of Idaho Falls. I'm it. I had to go several hundred yards upstream to get in. I worked my way down the bank to Lobo by holding on to the vegetation. When I reached him he was very afraid and exhausted. On the way back I held onto the foliage with one hand and his collar with the other. Much to his surprise, he's a good swimmer. No sign of the peacock. The last time I saw him, he was floating downstream toward St Anthony. Never a dull moment!
