Disturbed cover of Simon & Garfunkel's "The Sound of Silence"

I definitely agree with that. I was raised with Simon and Garfunkel, I can't stand that sh*t.

I prefer the original by a good margin, but it is the best cover of that song I've ever heard, that I agree. The one part that annoys me is how the sound of the drop of water in the well of silence near the end is completely missing in Disturbed's version - in the original, it sounds like the words are falling and then hit the bottom of the well when the singer says "...and echoed". It's a part that I loved in the original.

Almost any song that Joe Cocker or Ray Charles covered.

Re: Joe Cocker.
As much as I liked The Beatles' original,Cocker's cover of "A Little Help..." is superlative.

The other cover that immediately springs to mind is The Byrds' one of Dylan's "It's All Over Now,Baby Blue". I really do like Bob Dylan and have repeatedly defended his technically-poor singing voice by concentrating on the feeling he sings with; the humour, the pathos, the bitterness, the sarcasm...very rarely can anyone sing a Dylan song better than Dylan. But...
...The Byrd's take this song and push emotion right through it and if those yearning,sun-warmed harmonies alone don't bring you to some kind of godless epiphany,I'll buy you an Ed Sheeran album instead and send you on your way...

I have very, very strong opinions about music. Does that come across,or..?

@EdMalarkey Since it is my profession l do too. ☺

@Sticks48
Two of my brothers are drummers! Another was a bassist. I sing.
Many of my best friends are musicians and I owe them a great deal.

@EdMalarkey l always appreciate anyone who has a passion for music. My brother is a singer/songwriter. He was with Willie Nelson publishing in the 70's and 80's. I owe him my career. Playing with family is such a great thing to experience.

Danzig’s version of Trouble is better than Elvis’ version, too.

Yep.

Rob Zombie's cover of Grand Funk Railroad's "We're an American Band."

Loved 3 Dog Night-saw them live once.

Nothing Compares 2 U by Sinead O'Connor (vs Prince)
Girls just want to have fun by Cyndi Lauper (vs Robert Hazard)
I Love Rock 'n Roll by Joan Jett (vs. The Arrows)

I won't even touch the various covers of Hallelujah as I like Buckley, Lang, Cohen.

I suspect many like Houston's I Will Always Love You (inspired by Ronstadt's cover) but I find Parton's orginal to be more heartfelt.

I totally agree with you on the "nothing compares 2 you" song. Yes I will give credit to Prince for writing that song, as well as many other songs as well, but I think that Sinead O'Connor version was much better.

Posted this earlier but must have been deleted. Harry was the father of my friend Zak-keyboard player and friend in my ex's band. Here's Harry, Zak his godfatherRingo and 2 band members at Ringo's house 22 years ago.

And now for something completely different, but very good:
Honeywagon's blue grass cover of Billie Jean/Billy Jean:

What a surprise! Really good. Liked it a lot. So glad I thought of doing covers or I never would know this existed.
