Oh yeah... spirits are not about religion, those entities are not organized... but they are around us looking for host. religion is us on earth... spirits are in the other side not ruled by religion.

That’s a good question! In lay terms people who are skeptic and anti-establishment church may label themselves as spiritual. I think “spiritual” is a sign there’s hope for these people, who feel that agnostic gets stigmatized and they don’t want the religious bothering them. I’ve used it as a way to close religious debate nonsense when I am just not in the mood, or with my sisters parents in law, who like me but dislike my belief system (which they never actually bothered to get to know).
But in a true sense of the word... I am not sure, both it seems would be susceptible to magical dereastic thinking. I’m going to follow and see what others think too.

No, in that most people that I know, who proclaim to be spiritual, have a belief in some sort of higher power, whether that be internal or external to themselves.

Very big difference in my opinion. Religion mainly based on one god to worship when spiritulity open many doors and pushing you to develop yourself in many directions,to develope all the time, to grow all the time. I am not sure I am good with explanation. I believe religion have nothing to do with spirituality.

Religious is being overly involved in a specific religion to the extent that it drives atheists nuts. Spiritual deals with an inner being or feeling that connects you to something else, be it animal, another person or thing in nature.

I don't think so really. its a way of staying religious without admitting it.

I know what religious means; but do not really understand what spiritual means. Some people see them as synonymous, but I do not.

Isn't spiritual basically just pick n mix cultural appropriation?

I used to think that this meant belief in something spiritual of your own understanding, while rejecting any formal religion's teachings.
