Anybody been named after a celebrity? If you have or have not, do you name your kids or pets or trees after celebritys? I was named after Gregory Peck, my mom was a big fan.

I'm named after Paul McCartney.

My dad told me that my middle name came from a TV show in the 50s. It turns out that I was named after my great grandfather on my mother's side.

I was named after Gina Lollabrigida. My dad's favorite actress.

I never asked. So I never got an answer. Never was important to ask.

I don’t know if this qualifies as a “celebrity”, but my sister named me after a well known Canadian hero, Terry Fox, who lost his leg to cancer and subsequently ran all the way across Canada (on an artificial leg) to raise money for and awareness of cancer.

Your sister named you?
(admiral choice for a name-sake though.) 🙂

@scurry yea before I was born she put her vote in for me to be Terry if I was a boy.

@tsacrey That's cool. I'm not sure too many sisters can claim that. Pretty special. 🙂

@germangirl90439 That's so cool. 🙂

Nope. My name was handed down in a long series of Rachels, from my great-grandmother on.

So I dutifully named my daughter Rachel but we all call her by her middle name.

I always found that practice lack of imagination. Then those who use the the same first letter to name all their kids. Wish they could do like I do with my pets let them find their own name through their actions. There is a joke that went around might still be being passed around. A young indian comes up to his parents and asked how he was named well they told him they named their kids the first thing they saw after the kids were born. your older brother is flying eagle because a Eagle fly over head right after he was born. Your sister was named running deer because we saw a deer run by. Does that answer your question 2 dogs fucking?

I've heard some mothers, where I live, shout their children to come in for dinner etc. I've heard 'Britney' a few times. It seems tacky.

Pretty sure I'm named after the church that my folks got married in ! Ironical for an atheist I guess. St Andrews in Starbeck, Yorkshire. Andy x

I was named after three celebrities who all were named Doug.

The British actor Leslie Howard had at least three children named after him: his own daughter Leslie Ruth Howard, his pal William Gargan's son Leslie Howard Gargan, and Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall's daughter Leslie Howard Bogart. Two girls and one boy! It helps to have an androgynous name.

Does Alexander Hamilton count?

I guess that is better then being named after the guy who shot A. burr. LOL

Alexander Hamilton was a very distinguished founder of our nation. And his wife Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton loved him both passionately and unconditionally. Actually I admire her even more than him. Hamilton wrote to her just before his ill-fated duel with Burr "Adieu best of wives and best of Women. Embrace all my darling Children for me."

I was named after Chad Everett, the actor. At the time, Chad was an uncommon name.
