Any time I've been asked "what's your most embarrassing moment?" I immediately go to first year of high school when participants were required to shower after activity, and if you forgot your towel, you had to use paper towels. Yes, this happened to me. What I find both mortifying and hysterical with that was trying to hide my wet self behind paper towels while attempting to gingerly step toward my locker so as not to slip, but actually slipping/falling and sliding on wet tile and feeling like I looked and sounded similar to an uncooked chicken slapping and sliding across the tile floor-bare legs and bits in the air. I giggle now at that image, but it remains forever imprinted as the most embarrassing moment. (taking a gamble here by putting this out there )
Have you experienced a mortifying moment that later (or in the moment) was funny?
having to wear my little sisters gym shorts to play rugby at school. They were so TIGHT !!
When I was in the ministry I said a cuss word at work that slipped out. Another co-worker pointed out that I was a hypocrite, and she was right, according to how I believed back then. I realized that even though I had quit cussing out loud for years that I still cussed in my head and that was an affront to the church - so I dropped out of the ministry, and the church, and left my zealot husband. I began to live my life without religion at that point. My 'god-given' 'right' to cuss and self-expression was being challenged, I thought at the time, and it was. The Church seeks to remove personal individuality and make you into a religious clone - that IS the dark side! I still practice a more zen like existence, but religion was not an 'authentic' path.
I was a 21 year old bank teller and this super hot chick with a see through top came into the bank. I raced all the other males to the counter in order to serve her. Had to ask fro I.D. and found I was serving a female impersonator called Christopher who was in town the an all male dance troupe the Peter Moselle review.
My most embarassing moment was in college where I journeyed to Israel and stayed at several youth hostels in Jerusalem. Some nights they locked the gate early and we were in danger of getting locked out. I went to a party with some people and it was getting late. A male friend of mine was staying at another hostel and offered to let me stay in his room for the night. Needless to say I ws sleeping in a room full of bunk beds with several guys. I fell asleep for a couple of hours thenI felt someone shaking me. The matron was doing a bed check and spotted an extra occupant. I got thrown out on the street with no place to go. It was funny and scary to be in a foreign country at 2:00 in the morning. I eventually flagged down a taxi who brought me to my hostel where I woke up another friend and he let me in.
Glad you were safe anyway!
I was dating this guy one time and I thought it was be romantic and cool if I kissed him in the rain as it was raining. So, I stopped him as we were trying to run out of the rain, he being taller than me I got up on my tippy toes to kiss him. Eyes closed and all... I kissed his chin. ._.
