Not a lot is known apparently, but it says they are believed to eat lichens...and lay their eggs in rotting trees. Are not known to be destructive to any plant life and they can't fly...?

Lousy paint job. Needs another coat.

Ok 'Negative Nancy '...?

I always wondered why l never saw them moving and now l know...they are nocturnal, so play dead during the day...so much cool new information!?

Wow..Free2B look at the 2nd enlargened photo...about half way down the beetles back on the right side , one of its black spots is shaped like the shadow of the beetle itself, can you see it?

Took me a sec...but l see it!?

Cool. Don't think we have many of them up here either.

Had to look it up to find the name before l posted it.. says they like dry/desert type climate...so probably why l see them here frequently.

An impressive bug!

Google says they are called Iron Clad because their exoskeleton is so hard...?

@Free_2B_Me It looks hard and it’s a nice design as well. Thanks for the additional info.
