There is a tiny house by my work for sale. I really would like to buy it, so I could live closer to work and not spend so much money on gas. I've never bought a house before, and I don't have any money for a down payment because I had to buy a car and now a transmission, but I really should look into it.

If you own a home, what advice do you have for buying a house?

So buying a "tiny house" is more like buying a camp trailer than a house...is this the sort of tiny house you are considering?

If so, make sure to have someone with construction experience look at it with you.

Bank will probably want you to finance as a camper instead of a house.

It is an actual house. 400 square feet. It is considered a tiny house. A tiny house is any dwelling between 100 and 400 square feet

As somebody who answers "I'm trying to buy a house and the mortgage company found blah, blah, blah on my credit report and I have to have it fixed by tomorrow." questions at least once a month.

Get your full credit report first!! Not just the score, the actual report!!!

If there are negative things you have time to work on getting them fixed before you're in the middle of trying to get the loan.

Find a co signer , that will ease everything up . The other advice is good , inspect etc. Good luck ! If you want to live in NJ , I could rent you one of my houses . Mick

I’m in the process of buying currently. It doesn’t hurt to go to your bank and talk about it.

Get a competent inspection done. Also, decide in advance on your anti-anxiety medication; I like kava kava.

In your situation you might want to inquire if you can rent instead with an option to buy.

Make sure it is not about to fall down ?

Try to keep some money in reserve for when something inevitably breaks.
