I was inspired by the responses to my music post yesterday and the fun responses. What is your favorite song lyrically? What songs do you listen to that speak to you or tell a story that resounds with you in some way? Why?

Only I understand me and knows me. So I write my own lyrics to explain myself... not to others... but to me when I need to. If I am going dancing with a certain dame, just as last night, being 16 years in the farce. I got my "True Believers of the Farce" to justify the charade.

true believers of the farce 5/30/16

candle lights wane
by the winds of change
blowing off days
in my almanac

my body
ignores pain
for another
chance
at paradise

so here we are...
follow my lead
my mambo on two
we prep on six
stepping...
right on time

so i face the riddle of the farce
never keeper of the faith
carry no flag
never post or tweet
to save the day
my face
my calling card

i am shadows...
in colored shades
never a gray
latino style
distinguish me
from the camouflage

dancing nights away
mambo and swing
under the stars
as youth we live
until we die
we did it all
with no regrets
believing in the farce

we are not saviors of the world
we are as selfish as word i
we learned to dance another day
and to grow from our mistakes
without blame
if it comes
to a gunshot sound...
or the mute...
of the quick switchblade
'we sacrifice
if it comes...
to do or die

for all we knew
we learned worship of the flesh
suckers for beauty in a dress
chasing perfumes
lingering in our beds
for all we know
real love will never ends
so while others leaving
we chose to stay
alone or with a mate

in case you wonders
i will be the one
in two tone shoes
and matching ties
and with a gaze
that never minds
little conscience
and bright eyes
following movement
of young thighs
still believer of the farce

we raise our voice but not to shout
we just wanted to be heard
beyond the norm
of the usual mouse
acknowledge
and proud
within our silly selves
in the lonely dark

in empty hands
memories are...
last glory to fade
or so they say

we used to dance above the clouds
on holidays and summer nights
wouldn't matter beach or park
we kiss and dance
at the same time
split a beer...
share a laugh

i offer you
partner in crime
for old time sake
for all seasons
and every age
the last i have
for you to take

and when we gone
we ate our cake
among memories
of the smiles

those who remember us
won't let us die
hail believers of the farce
enjoy this masquerade
until our last empty glass

we won't acknowledge
curfew
in our soul

but as the mambo plays
we congregate
to find another life
in a lindy hop
or west coast swing
in prose and rhyme

a hope in a new love
a truth in an old lie
and thus the masquerade
i will believe in any farce
that prolong my life
another day
and delays saying goodbye
to anyone of you my friends
as a true believer of the farce
i will embrace

and here to you
and here we are...
follow my lead
i mambo on two
we prep on six
don't wait for me
if i hesitate
i won't be late
a dancers faith
we dance our fate
my love for you
will never end

i may be the last...
of the believers of the farce
my partner, lover and friend
so come on in
there's space for two
in this charade
i called love
you called life
we can't say...
why
or otherwise
let's just dance
to the riddle of the farce
as true believers of the farce

Beautiful!

@mnmelissa Thank you, it is me. Who better can do me? I like story telling songs like Harry Chapin "Taxi" and "A place to be"

Probably my favorite lyrics of all time are to David Wilcox's, Eye Of The Hurricane. The lyrics use riding a motorcycle recklessly as a metaphor for the things we use in our lives to try to fill up the spaces where we feel empty....

Tank is full, switch is on
Night is warm, cops are gone
Rocket bike is all her own
It's called a hurricane.

She told me once it's quite a ride
It's shaped so there's this place inside
Where if you're moving you can hide
Safe within the rain

She wants to run away
But there's nowhere that she can go
Nowhere the pain won't come again
But she can hide
Hide in the pouring rain
She rides the eye of the hurricane

Tell the truth, explain to me
How you got this need for speed
She laughed and said "it might just be
The next best thing to love."

Hope is gone and she confessed
When you lay your dream to rest
You can get what's second best
But it's hard to get enough

She wants to run away
But there's nowhere that she can go
Nowhere the pain won't come again
But she can hide
Hide in the pouring rain
She rides the eye of the hurricane

We saw her ride so fast last night
Racing by a flash of light
Riding quick, the street was dark
A shining truck she thought was parked
It blocked her path, stopped her heart
But not the hurricane

She saw her chance to slip the trap
There was just the room to pass in back
But then it moved, closed the gap
She never felt the pain

She wants to run away
But there's nowhere that she can go
Nowhere the pain won't come again
But she can hide
Hide in the pouring rain
She rides the eye of the hurricane
She rides the eye of a hurricane.

"I smell sex and candy here", "She said 'sign your name on the dotted line.' The lights went out and Nikki started to grind", and "Suck this pussy just like you should, my neck, my back. Lick my pussy and my crack".
