I remember when a friend would say, "Let's hook up" and it meant they wanted to go out and party, or just hang out. Now it means, "Let's fuck."

These days hooking up can refer to any number of things. Sex definitely being one of them. It can also mean something as non-sexual as hooking up for a brainstorming session on a project after work.
