I was wondering why most people now days don’t like to meet in person like we did in the old days, they want to do it all online? Most people are different online then they are in person....

Sorry I’ve been gone a while but I’ve returned to very bright interesting people and content . Meets on line is what many people rely on for better or worse but I can tell first hand it can be wonderful. Perhaps I was fortunate to have a great experience. But in person I would think would be best and I’ve been fortunate that way as well certainly in cultivating close female friendships

I think it is easier for people to be passive aggressive about it now online.
I dislike all the filtering I can and will do because it excludes people based on things I wouldn't know if I met them out in the world. Still do it though

I think part of it is people are busier. Most people work so that takes up a good chunk of time. Then you have people just being "fine" being single. Everyone says it and that they love their life but then why bother. I think we all want perfection for ourselves and overthink it way too much

Nothing can ever replace speaking with someone face to face. You have to be able to see body language and eye contact. This is what makes us human and wonderful unique individuals. But I am an old gal!

Too most people age is just a number ?

@Ronny Thanks Ronny, I have friends of all ages, and my life is all the richer for it!

Because nobody has a life nowadays. Let's take away the internet for a few hours and we'll see the zombies emerge

What lots of guys don't realise, is that many women are afraid of violence.

2

For me personally I need time to try and get to know the person, because as a woman, I know a guy MAY be a violent psycho that cannot take no for an answer. Luckily, in my experience, most of those psycho types do not like talking for long and want to meet asap or just disappear. Sadly there are a few that are dedicated game players that you cannot determine their true characters until you meet them. It's not a full proof system, but it is one nonetheless.

You can make the person on the other end exactly what you want him/her to be. In real life, you don't have complete control.

It's safe and you don't have to dress up.

Well, I know for me it's because I'm convinced that anyone meeting me in real life after getting to know me online would be horribly disappointed.

Don’t feel that way, there is someone wonderful out there just waiting to find you

@Ronny Awrh, thanks. That's very kind. I try to remember things like that when I'm feeling down. Sometimes I even succeed!

Chances are everyone is expecting the other person to take the lead. Therefore it is catch 22 for everyone. What we need to figure out is how to break the circle

I don't get out much. Just seem to work and come home. Not into the bar scene. I've been on other dating sites and it never works out. I also have dogs and it's always been important to me to meet someone who likes dogs. Haven't had anyone be really truthful about liking them. Do I just give up?

Never just give up, there is someone out there just looking for someone like you!!

As you write on this site

? There's always one...

Well, Ronny, you are my age but you're not exactly available to meet me at the local wine bar for a glass and a chance to see if we have much in common. I don't really know if I'm ready to deal with online dating. I did in the past always meet people face to face first and then decide if I wanted to spend more time with them.

I would love it meet someone in person. But it hasn't happened and I'm not getting any younger so the internet is a viable option.

Fear of rejection?

See, the old fashion way they knew from the go if they were attracted to e/o...and they went from there. Now, they may get "an idea" about the other person (pics are deceiving) and they prefer to keep the illusion alive by not meeting face to face.

4

I think everyone still prefers to meet in person but the internet and online dating sites is just a convenient way to put yourself "out there" to everyone else on the internet. As with EVERYTHING else, it has it's advantages and disadvantages.

So true. It seems like when you find someone interesting and then ask if the want to meet up there’s a lot of excuses. I only try to meet people online so I can develope a real relationship in person. I think people are just very cautious.
