It's a bit startling to see Germany out of the World Cup in Moscow already.

But their being beaten by South Korea didn't surprise me.

When I taught at Morehead University, KY, in 2000, whenever a South Korean student walked into a new class there was a groan from other students, knowing the grade curve was blown.

The South Korean students were arrogant to me, many didn't do their assignments, most talked down to other students and sat in the back and played on their tablets, but if I ever insisted they either turn in work or fail the class, they'd turn in such impressive work I couldn't help but give them top grades.

Honestly the germans were hard done by in that game. They had 70% possession and were dominant in shots on goal and corners, but came unstuck in the last 5 minutes and conceded two goals in injury time at the end. So the 2-0 scoreline does not tell the whole story.

Yeah..it was puzzling. It was like the usually ice cold Germans just choked. Or gave up. Like Leonel Messi usually does during a major crunch, and we're all hoping he won't do as he starts the game with France very soon now.
