Really sad. l was in San Fransisco 13 - 14 years ago visiting family and l don't remember it being like this. Granted, we only went to the Chinese district for lunch, but still. lt was nothing like this. Very, very sad to see this.

Forgive me I am a link posting amateur. I think I gave a choice of politically neutral links.

Here is a link from the newspaper in the midst of the crisis.

Not one mention of mental illness or veterans. Not one mention of the Trump cuts to rehab programs, federal cuts to PTSD treatment centers for the veterans HE says HE loves so much. Not one mention of the Affordable Care Act disembowelment affecting these Americans & their treatment. Not one mention of the mess the VA is still in. Not one mention of federal programs being eviscerated for drug interdiction as the waiting list grows. Follow HIM just as they followed Jim Jones and drank the Kool Aid. Oh. Now I get it. It's POX SPEWS. America is dead.
Regards,
a very blue meanie meanie meanie.

Hmmm... so the homeless people are veterans, vets with ptsd? Is there some report on this somewhere l missed?

@SilverDollarJedi l'm talking about San Fran in particular... l know of plenty of vets in the US, but are most of the homeless in san fran vets?

Sooo, actually, Countrywoman, even NPR seems to think Trump has made some good progress on veterans issues.. l hope you didn't think he could snap his fingers his first year and all the problems be gone.. [npr.org]

Helllloooo.... Countrywoman... oh wait, l see, you've blocked me or something so now l can't tag you in a conversation? That's pretty damn wimpy of you... hahaha... love to dish it but can't stand to discuss it.. Gotchyah...

@Captain_Feelgood I haven't blocked you. I enjoy your mockery of me. I am many things but wimpy is not one of them. Veterans? Please read news sources other than ultra right militia sites. Perhaps you might realize a more balanced view. You are too intelligent to remain in their sphere.

@Captain_Feelgood I would rejoice if HE was able to reform the VA in a positive direction. Thank you for the links. I do listen to NPR. I am happy that you do as well. No Not ALL of anything are homeless in SF. But the mentally ill which includes the vets & drug addicts which compose a large part of the homeless. These 2 types can not hold down a job, handle finances, deal with beaurocracy. So without socialist programs to keep them off the streets & in treatment it is every nut job for themselves. Sort of like the 1800s when the street was full of people who could neither function, not afford any living quarters. Hence the attraction to SF with a tolerant attitude towards them. SF has a history of attracting the square pegs of this round world. That is the reason I left my heart their.

@Countrywoman Then why was it that before l couldn't tag you??? Maybe it was just a computer glitch... Any waaay.... can you give me a link showing where soooo many of the homeless people IN SAN FRAN are vets? And how Trump has cut their benefits... because l'm not seeing anything credible on that out there. And don't even start jabbering about ACA, homeless people never were signed up for it because they couldn't afford it either. That whole system has imploded on itself without any interference from anybody, especially Trump. So yeah, a link showing the homeless in SF are a bunch of vets with ptsd would be interesting... thanks.

@Captain_Feelgood I have no idea why you could not tag me. But I assure you people block me but I have yet to block anyone other than a surreptitious stalker. The ACA was not meant for the Medicaid or VA recipients. The ACA was meant as an option for the middle class. Those who made too much for welfare, but too little to afford insurance. To cover children & parents who by poor fortune incurred a medical expense which would devastate any quality of life. Perhaps becoming homeless in San Fransisco.

Perfect weather for renting and people have money over there. One night outside in a tent in my neighborhood would post you off. 83 degrees with 100% humidity. Fans want dry you out if your playing on a sleeping bag fighting mosquitoes...

Like any city, San Francisco has its good and bad neighborhoods. I lived there for three years, and it broke my heart when I had to leave.
