If Republicans didnt act like a cult where if you vote or act differently than the mass than you are kicked to the curb than there may be less truth but they are therefore because they are religious they all must be or they wouldnt be Republicans. They have no respect for the separation of church and state.

It will get worse as long as they preach from the pulpit. There was a reason for the separation of church and state in the Constitution and that was to get rid of the church in politics. The republicans have found election power supporting evangelicals desires. They could care less personally as they have the money to avoid their desires. Money can get what they want from abortions to contraceptives.

I would say that the foundation of conservatism is fear and the hatred that springs from that fear. It doesn't have to be based in religion but I agree that religion is all about instilling fear in people in order to make them subservient to their will.

I am not qualified to make an argument regarding the Republican Party as I am neither an American citizen nor do I live in the USA. I do however, live in N.Ireland and we have a political party here called the DUP......this is Democratic Unionist Party. There is nothing democratic at all about them as they have prevented same sex marriage and abortion being put on the statute book, by using an archane device called ”petition of concern”. They use this device to frustrate the will of the NI Assembly and the majority of the people. Because voting here is largely tribal most protestants vote for them even when they don’t actually agree with their policies. If they didn’t then Sinn Fein which is the main republican party could become the majority, it is the party most catholics vote for. There is a middle of the road party called Alliance which is the only party any sane person should consider voting for but alas, when it comes to the ballot box even normally moderate people revert to their tribal instincts. This party the DUP are just a branch of the extreme evangelical protestant illiberal movement that seems to getting stronger worldwide and which appears to be almost identical to your Republican party.

There is no religious political party, as politics and religion do not mix, the latter of which for that matter is also present in the democratic party. That jesus guy in the NT from the holy babble certainly advocated socialist points, he disdained personal wealth and told his followers to give what they had to others. I for one cannot understand why any of those who have escaped from religion would choose to align with an ideaology similar to that of that creep jesus? I am not tainted by religion, liberty is my "religion", so I think your rather crude assumption is inaccurate.

You mean like the Nevada pimp running on the GOP ticket? When evangelicals were asked to explain their support, the general response was akin to "At least he isn't a Democrat." Or maybe the Illinois nazi who secured the GOP nomination, after running unopposed, with nary a religious objection raised?

A better question could be why do so many people that know that religion is fake buy into something even more fake politics.
