Is anyone else here going to be following the Tour de France this year?

I was a devotee for many years. I even caught one leg in Btittany in 2000. But since I've gotten rid of my cable and TV, it's more difficult. I've trief following on Tour website, but wasn't consistent. Even tried catching Leg One today at my sisters, but got called away to help on a project.

I will watch a couple minutes of it but I won't be actively rooting for anyone. I will watch it for the beautiful scenic landscapes they pass by and think to myself I could do that. Then remember it would probably be a challenge for me to even bike 5 miles anymore lol.

Like RPardoe below, I'm a cyclist and follow it every year

I’m in Texas. That’s kinda far away.

As a cyclist myself, of course. Try to follow all the grand tours as well as the classics.

That said, I tend to record them and watch them after the fact. Fortunately, pretty easy to avoid spoilers (as long as I stay away from the cycling websites). On flat, sprint stages, pretty convenient to fast forward through most of the race and then watch the wind-up to the sprint.

On the mountain stages, will watch more as it is interesting to see who will crack and who won't.

Pity we don't get to see the Giro Rosa on TV too, again.

@Jnei Agreed....at least there is Steephill.TV to get some coverage and video to watch.

@RPardoe Apparently Eurosport have 45 minutes highlights every evening - PMGSport have an hour every day online too, but with Italian commentary.

@Jnei Which is why I wish I could get Eurosport here in the States. But alas, I am stuck with piss poor NBC coverage with Phil Liggett and Paul Sherwin - who seem to be phoning it in more and more these days.

@RPardoe I don't have Eurosport either, so it's Liggett and Sherwin for me too!

@Jnei I'm sorry.

Ahhh..nope..cause why start now??

No. I wouldn't mind a yellow jersey though.

So long as you're not a cyclist, you're allowed to have one - there's an unwritten rule in cycling that you DO NOT wear a yellow jersey unless you earned it!

I'm to lazy to reach for the clicker, so I'll probably just be watching the 24 hour law and order channel until August. Just keep us up to date.
Is Greg Le Monde racing this year?

Tour de France would be a sport... and on TV. For me that would be a no. I don't have cable, and most sports don't get me excited.

A surprising number of people with no interest in sport watch the Tour simply because of France and the chateaux 🙂
