Is there intelligent life on earth? Consider that the average should be considered the determining factor in determining how "intelligent" a species is and not the extremes. Given that on the normal distribution curve, 100 is the most common I.Q. score and when talking to a person with a 100 I.Q. one gets the distinct impression one is not talking to a very intelligent person, how then can we believe that humans are an "intelligent" life form? "We" (our species) have, after all, only an I.Q of 100. Considering that, it begs the question: How would we be viewed by a visiting species of extraterrestrials that were truly intelligent?

That one gives some pause for thought.

Beam me up Scotty. There's no intelligent life on this planet.

What is intelligence?

What is your point, if any?

So, the intelligent thing to do would be to slaughter everyone with an IQ below 140? That would make our species more intelligent. I am not saying you proposed that, just pointing it out. If we let the diabetics die off and the people with cancer tendencies and aids and ... if we just stopped caring for them, our gene pool would be cleaner. I therefore conclude that we are at a point where our evolution is no longer purely genetic. Generation to generation, we advance technologies to help our weakest and those advances incidentally help everyone.

The reason I bring up that train of thought is I feel it is absolutely wrong to judge humanity on the average. We should be judged on how much we let the leaders in their fields do. We should be judged by our best doctors and our best engineers. We should be judged on how we care for our weak and our pets. We are a differentiated species. Just as judging a human cell based on the "average" would be silly. Your brain cells and muscle cells are so different and our people are at least that differentiated.

Two of the most important teachers I've had in life were probably below 100 on an IQ scale. SGT Hernandez and SFC Nunez. They taught me compassion, leadership and construction and made me a better human being than when I thought I was smarter than them. I'd never let "Frankie Hernanandez, Sergeant, Scorpio, Sexy Bitch" represent us to the aliens, as that is how he'd introduce himself, but The world is a better place for having him in it. I'd hate for the 19 year old me to represent us too, even though he had a pretty high IQ.

I sure as heck wouldn't take extraterrestrials to our leader -the Orange one LOL.

I would point them to the highest level person on this site.

Obviously not.
No basis of comparison.
Probably as not very intelligent.
What is the value of an academic question?
Assuming one was able to determine a correct answer, why would it matter in either case?
