Back in March, I began seeing someone - a widower and a Christian , that I met out in real life. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical on those points - but kept an open mind, as we seemed to be good activity partners in the beginning.

A few weeks ago, I felt "that" feeling - the one where you know it's not working, and on my request, we've backtracked to friends only - he reluctantly agreed.
We may have moved forward too soon - he was not ready to "be" with another woman yet (and honestly, not very good at it) - after a 27yr marriage.

But what truly wore me down , was two sort of unexpected aspects : very poor self esteem on his part (his poor self view eventually convinced me !), and a total lack of curiosity about much of anything ! (no books, no research, no questions)
I thrive, and am drawn to active minds and imaginations ... we are a mis-match relationship-wise.

Have any of you broken up a relationship over either of these ?

All the time. First sign of any trouble spots I just excuse myself from the party and move on. I am not missing the right one because I lingered too long with the wrong one

I've broken up with women who couldn't appreciate the widescreen format on DVDs 😉

Got religion? Don't got me.

Yep, that is why I'm here in Leesburg! 11 years committed to a lady in the FL Keys that bought land in the Ocala National Park! I would come up here for 10 days at a time & clear land, fence, build while camping in the woods. I built an out door shower & made it happen with a Colman camping water heater. Then I would go back to the Keys & get out house in order but we were not in order. I respected her religion which was not much but then she got into the Joel stuff over those 2 years. We sat about 15 months ago & just talked it out. I spent 3 weeks packing & moving up here because I had move 70% of what I had already. Got my Harley on a trailer the week before last years Bike Week & arrived. We do not even talk anymore, not any since that one talk. That all just made me say, I'm going to be up front & never be with a church person again. Then when I saw Agnostic.com..........I got in..... I feel so much better being just open.

Thanks for that - but in my case, the religion part took a back seat to self esteem, and lack of curiosity .

Once. It was very short lived. Even the great sex was not enough to keep it going for very long.

Great sex will keep it going for me. About the only thing I have found that ends an affair is a woman becoming demanding, selfish and possessive.

For me also, but l don't do boring either.

You will encounter a lot of human beings with 27 years of marriage with low self esteem issues. It is part of long marriage conditioning, that you are not completed without your partner.

This is my first and last one ...
