49 years ago today Apollo 11 was launched. I remember it quite well I think. It was a MASSIVE technological success. It's just a pity I can't find anyone else in the UK who remembers or cares - ah well.

To bad the flag got knocked down on liftoff for the ride home.

Shout out from Australia. Still looking up to the heavens in awe. Looking forward to the 50th anniversary of the landing ?.

You remembered and educated all of us. We'll done! The next time I'm in the UK I'd like to recall it over a pint.

It is no longer a topic of achievement but one of war, spying on everybody else when all they are doing is wasting time and your money, Mostly mine?

I remember it well. I stayed up all night to watch the coverage of the lunar landing. I have a slide photo of the 15-inch TV screen displaying Armstrong's initial descent out of the lander.

I'm a big space exploration fan. I watch some old science fiction movies and wonder; "What happened to us? Where did we lose our spirit of adventure?"

Hopefully I can be excused as I wasn't quite 1 yr old at the time! But I caught up eagerly on all of that a few years later. My first career choice was astronaut 🙂

When Christopher Columbus "" discovered"" the New World I wasn't around at all...but I know very well who he was and what he did....The same when Napoleon married Josephine. 🙂🙂

I really remember that era. I was a huge space buff back then. I had posters on my walls of the Mercury guys, mostly John Glen. Then came the Appolow Missions. Man I don't even have words to describe the heroism it took to actually set foot on the moon. Balls made of steel those guys had.

One of the things that really pisses me off are the moon landing hoax nut jobs. Man I just wand to punch them in the head.

Here's an example of what I mean. Buzz Is The man

Guy reminds me of Sean Hannity.

Since you mention the Apollo mission...When I was at the Space Center Museum...in Huntsville, Alabama....not only I saw a detailed replica of the Apollo "spaceship" but also one of Juan Manuel Fangio's Formula One car.
Nobody could tell me what a replica of his car was doing there.

Well that happens here too. And the sad part. The cape is only a couple hours north of me.
