Advice please: I haven’t been on a “date” in almost two decades. I may have that opportunity this week. Should I just play it safe and watch breaking bad for the 10th time and if so, bourbon or wine??? Toughy...

You're making it too stressful. Anything you can attend together - a movie? a sporting event? a gallery opening? End up the evening with a nightcap somewhere? Figure out if there is any chemistry there before getting so domestic... 😉

Thanks for all the insight. It appears that I should green light this, and get out of my head.

Over thinking ? .... damnit.

Go on the date and bring the wine. Concentrate on having fun and taking it lightly and not making a big deal about it. Breaking Bad can wait.

Get the fuck off your ass, go on that date and see what happens! (Kinda drill-sergeanty aren't I ??) If it doesn't work out next weekend you can stay at home and whine with your wine. We don't get many opportunities at life; grab hold and get some love for yourself. You could tell us how it went too.

I would suggest a restaurant that she likes, then you can make metal notes for (possible future dates),food, spices, and drinks. Fresh scrubbed body, not an over powering Cologne, clean hands and nails, and once you've begun conversation, ask to take her hands in yours, give them a slight squeeze now and then, the first sign of your being serious toward her. Women notice simple things, they mean a lot.

That is so true!

Why don't you both do something that you have never done!!

Hmmm, Zip lining? Roller coaster ride? Concert? Art Museum?

@Mike1947

I was thinking glow in the dark dodge ball, but you have the Idea!!

I was in a romantic relationship with a woman for quite a while. But after a while we both found that the romance just wasn't there, although we both valued our friendship more.

We have been best friends since then.We thust each other and help eachother more than any other friend I have.

Try to relax, be yourself, and have fun! ?

Walter White, Jessie Pinkman, Gus Fring, Mike Ehrmantraut, Saul Goodman, Tuco and the blue meth will be there when you get back home. Go on your date.

My homies you speak of will always be there, I think you’re right.

I would avoid forms of entertainment that center around suffering, violence, hard drugs, and other patently negative experiences unless those things fall directly into the interest of your prospect. And depending on the person (im certainly all for it, but I'm weird) the Netflix and chill formula is both already a bit outdated and became an insinuated expectation of sexual play.

I'd recommend softer forms of alcohol than liquor, especially for a first date, especially if it's the first in a long time. The words 'best behavior' comes to mind. You don't want to pretend to be someone you're not and honesty is important but still, you're wanting to show someone the best possible version of yourself if you're intending there to be a second date and don't possess verified successful social strategies for making that happen.

And because none of that is stressful and confusing enough, now I'm going to hit you with 'relax and be yourself is the real key.' Because if she doesn't like who you really are (or vice versa) there's no point wasting time and energy pursuing an unfulfilling scenario or lack of connection.

Exactly.

OMG....I love it.... that's the funniest thing I've seen in ages. I kept thinking "these two will be married for like 50 yrs".

@Lavergne Enjoyable to see him in such a role. Mostly he is a hard semi-bad guy, like in Justified.

If only it happened this way!

@bleurowz In another thread a women is complaining about a guy sending her semi-naked pics. i want women to do that to me. I mean images of women. Not the semi-naked guy. I have my preferences, just like everybody.

@Jacar Not my thing. Only if I'm involved with someone and we do it with each other.

@bleurowz Private pictures that only you out of 7+ billion have seen?
At least, a great story to tell.
How can you reject that.?

@Jacar I would have to get to know someone really well before I'd consider it. I don't give myself away that easily.

@bleurowz they are giving themself to you. 😉

@bleurowz Send me some neck to feet pics. I am a man. I always enjoy looking at images, real, and imagined, of less than fully-dressed women.
How can this be wrong?

@Jacar Nothing wrong if I knew you.

I am not surprised that there has been no dating for you.

My wife wouldn’t have cared for it

@Josh87 You got a wife and are open to meeting women?

@Jolanta “had” a wife. That’s where the joke “wouldn’t have cared for it” and that’s why I have not done this dating thing in what seems like forever. Up to speed ?

@Josh87 So, what happened?

@Jolanta And, your implied moral is?

1

Wine, definitely. Speaking from profound and insightful personal experience, the time from happy to stupid is much too short with bourbon. And the stupid zone is also the unable to finish zone. Not worth it.

Congratulations and have fun.
