One of the issues I had with the bible was the idea that menstruation was unclean. Really? Like we have a choice.

Hmm. A lot of bible nonsense has to do with health or disease or some such, but I don’t see how blood can be dangerous, maybe spreading disease? I doubt it, I really don’t get this one, it might just come down to men saying “Icky!” and using the “god said so” excuse. That’s how they rolled. “Hey, everyone is supposed to give the church money! God said so, I swear to god” 😉

that same bible also, in Genesis, that said that not only menstruation but also painful childbirth were the consequences of eating an apple off of a tree. 😛

An apple tree that an omniscient god put there, told adam and eve not to eat despite knowing that they would, and then has the audacity to act all fussy when they did so.

A silly book with silly stories written by silly people to make sense of this silly world with what little they knew at the time.

There are a few stories that make not one bit of damn sense when you account for gods omniscience. Why torture Job if it knew before Job was even a twinkle in his mothers eye that he would not stray from the faith? Just to prove a point to satan? How petty...

Why test Lot or Abraham? Why so ignorant of Cain and Able? Doesn't sound like god has omniscience at all, or if it does it chooses when to ignore it for its own twisted amusement.

It's like the classic paradox: Could god make a stone so heavy that even it can not move it?
If so, then its power is limited; if it can't then its power is limited.

Little plot holes like these are part of what drove me away from theism entirely.

Misogyny.

I am sure most people did/do not abstain. Sorry for those women married to imbeciles.

I don't know... some periods can feel awfully violent...

Obvious male BS from the stupendously ignorant sheepherders of 2000 years ago.

When the bible was written they didn't have the foggiest idea about the workings of the body, the Ancient Egyptians thought crocodile dung stuff in a woman's vagina was a good form of contraceptive!!!! but to use it as a modern guide is, of course, utter nonsense and should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

I have always believed that women DO have a choice. I think they menstruate so that they have something additional to complain about. 🙂

I hope that is in jest, because it ain't funny. The most freeing thing about being past menopause is not having cramps every damn month and messing with "Aunty Flo." And the expense. The pink tax is real.

@CoastRiderBill That is your theory...but I doubt if you can provide any proof. A joke is just a joke...I do not get all upset about women's problems because I have problems of my own.

@CoastRiderBill Oh get over yourself...no woman has ever died from menstrual cramps.

Come to think of it... in school we were told that was the reason women where more healthy and lived longer than men. Because their body did monthly maintenance and we didn't. MALE Masturbation was not maintenance... we lost that argument with the teachers and the girls time and time again in class.

Realise that the people who wrote the Bible lived and died in the dust, and who never bathed and never washed clothes. Their opinions are worthy of exactly zero respect.

Never saw a vulcan, bathing or washing clothes either... europeans? didn't bathe either because of diseases... they invented perfume for that reason... your smell. I saw a castle in Germany... the kings perfume room was larger than the bathroom. So what's your point? Mesopotamians lived in the desert also. Egyptians? Sumerians? Greeks were boy lovers Freaks of the Ancient World. Mountain men in Europe? lived in their clothes... no washing either. You just don't carry much opinions are you? ...Lack of respect for the ancient. He, he, ha, he, ha.

I totally agree with you. It's a belief from an ignorant society. There are tribes out there in the world that still have their menstruating women temporarily leave the tribe even though it is perfectly normal.

Ha. When I have mood swings, I wish for someone to take me away from most people for a little while.

@Anthrolux Yeah, I can see that. Emotions can fluctuate rapidly and it's not good when you say or do something you don't mean or wouldn't normally do.

The intent was to oppress women, keep them in their "place."

I have recently made two videos concerning this issue. The important thing to understand is that from the Bibles perspective is that Woman was not created like a Man. The woman was inferior copy of a man and thus not equal or opposite of man. Everything else in the universe was created by God. Woman was made from one of those creations.

Very good, thanks for sharing!!

Well if god created us then it's his fault we bleed
