I don't usually post private matters, but this will be an exception.

My partner is finishing the AT. He's doing the final 345 miles. He will be traversing some rough terrain.
He will be gone for a month.

I am a little despondant.

Any encouragement or entertaining side tracks would be very much appreciated.

I'm curious. What did you wind up watching?

There's some books that I would love to read with fresh eyes. Think of what you might choose if you could erase your memory of it.

Take a moment to ponder the great questions of the universe. Then when that no longer works, reach out... We all want to feel a little less lonely in the world.

You can spend some of that time letting us know how things are going as the month goes on.

Since you've got some time to kill, I'd suggest either the BBC's Hitchhiker's Guide series, or "I, Claudius" on Masterpiece Theatre.

Though I've no idea about your tastes in entertainment, I also quite enjoyed the LEXX series. Also in that farcical vein is the cartoon series "The Venture Brothers." It's like Jonny Quest on steroids.

Another cartoon suggestion - Invader Zim.

I'll keep parking these here as I think of them. The claymation series "Moral Orel" is like a demented "Davey and Goliath." The series finale was actually remarkably profound. Gave a wonderful humanist take on life.

Samurai Jack is quite good. I'm a fan of animated shows as you might have noticed.

I wish I could think of something original or clever to say. Not trying to sound pathetic, but at this time, I have no one to miss and no one to miss me. I'd much rather be in your situation. I hope the time passes quickly.

@Donotbelieve Not at all; a month is a long time. Time to binge watch some television shows and/or do some reading. You know, stuff which will divert you. Keep us all informed on how you're doing.

@Donotbelieve No, you don't seem like a brat. You communicated how you were feeling and asked for support, and I somehow made it about me. If anyone needs to say forgive me, it's me. So, please forgive me.

If I were in your situation, maybe I'd get a FPS game and waste some time killing bad guys and blowing shit up.

Hang with women friends!

@Donotbelieve Time to meet some more!

The time will pass pretty quickly if you keep your mind focused on other things.
A couple of ideas:

Reread a book you enjoyed.
Take the kids to parks.
Treat yourself to a night out.
Anything else you can think of....

@Donotbelieve you're welcome.

Very good for him! I learned a lot about myself on the AT.

Now's the time to do stuff you've put on your bucketlist.

@Donotbelieve A month goes by really fast.

@Donotbelieve Go do something!

Are you lonely, worried about his safety or both?
