Anybody out there have good ways for dealing with insomnia? Falling asleep initially is no problem but I wake up in the middle of the night and cannot get back to sleep. Frustrated!

I had similar issues and had a sleep study. The long and short of it is that I have a C-pap now. It helps a lot.

I've found that if I keep my place slightly colder than I'm comfortable while I'm awake I sleep alot better.

Walk a few miles, do so weight pulls for 15 min on a machine 3X a week and you will sleep like a baby. You have to regiment this into your daily routine. Even if you have to buy some bar bells or make they up with sticks, bricks or a backpack.

Get your Thyroid checked out too..Mine went nuts..I was chronically tired..but a couple of hours into sleep..I would wake up..and had great difficulty getting back to sleep. That was only one symptom of many of course..for underactive thyroid.

For some of my patients CBD oil helps.
I use cannabomega by Designs For Health

Chamomile Tea and sleep specific teas from companies such as Yogi and Traditional Medicinals about 1 hour before bed. Also, valerian root capsules and holy basil tea in the late afternoon/evening....about 4 hours before I want to sleep.

I put on a movie. I love the movie yet it always puts me to sleep. Master and Commander.

I had severe sleep issues for a long time. I did a sleep study, and learned several different strategies.
Check with your doctor, or if you live in a college town with a teaching hospital, see if they have any sleep studies scheduled.

I can't recommend it highly enough.

Have a sleep study done. After some major health issues, I had that happening. fall asleep, wake up in the middle of the night, couldn't fall back asleep and if I did fall back asleep it was right before I was suppose to get up. the days became miserable as I would "zone out" doing stuff.

Had the sleep study done and they basically said I was semi waking up every 5 minutes after about an hour of retiring to bed. They put me on a CPAP and now I sleep through the night.

Yes. I had a really bad six month bout with insomnia a few years back. Someone suggested breathing and visualization exercises, which cleared it up immediately. There are videos on You Tube which will help you out.

I get up and do something. Like dishes. In 30 minutes I can't keep my eyes open again.

That's been my solution of late. Rather than laying there trying to sleep, just get up and be productive for a while.

when I was younger massive amounts of exercise. now? xanax. I am ashamed

@Omen6Actual PSD? I was gonna say talk to some one but shrinks can make one crazier. do you have a partner? someone to snuggle with? except it is too hot

I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of. Lack of sleep is quite stressful. I'm on board with whatever works.

@Omen6Actual then if you do get sleep you feel so groggy it doesn't matter

I found out I had a vitamin D deficiency bad enough that I'm taking a fairly strong supplement once a week. That has helped. I also take NAD+ which is another supplement. Also make sure your bedroom is not too warm

@LouElmo I would never have thought vitamin D would make such a difference.

@LouElmo it is also good for anxiety and low grade depression

Guided meditation. Try the headspace app for a good introduction.
