In high school American history they drill it that the Boston tea party and illegal taxes and the tea rebellion. This was only part of a glorified historical event. The real story is the molasses used for the rum was in jeopardy of being withheld from the colonists. The people did not want to lose their source of inebriation. So America was basically formed around a mind-altering substance.
