Have you ever cheated on someone? Just once or how many times? Can you explain why you did it?

I definitely did a lot before I was married...pure boredom was the main reason...and obviously, other parts of the relationship was failing besides the sex. After marriage, I got involved in a relationship but both partners knew about each other, so is that cheating? I love both...would I cheat on them? Probably....

I didn't really cheat but I was enjoying life to it's fullest and I had 2 sexual relationships going at the same time. One guy found out and was upset (they were both just flings, no commitment) I still carry guilt over it and it was over 40 years ago 😕 Never did that again.

Yes once when i was 17/18 ish. Gf was on holiday, I got drunk and ended up with someone else. She heard on the grapevine whilst she was still on holiday (no internet or mobiles back then!) and came back pretty upset which had a lasting impression on me. I just consider it part of a learning curve now, it's never been repeated. For somebody stuck in the wrong relationship with no communication I'd struggle to criticise them for doing it though.

Apparently, I didn't know we were exclusively dating. I was informed of this later. I think I was 18 at the time. Ever since then I've made it clear at the beginning of all my relationships. She and I will be having sex with other people together and separately. Haven't cheated since.

No, I have never cheated and I never would. But, I have been been cheated on and I would never wish that pain on anyone. Cheating is despicable and abusive. It is one person taking advantage of another and making life altering decisions behind the back of the person who trusts them the most. If one is unhappy in their current relationship, they should end that relationship before starting another. Cheating is selfish.

I love how you explained that. It's exactly how I feel--they are making life changing decisions for not only their wife but their kids! Especially if they don't use condoms.

@Carin Once they lie to you - it is over....he 'said' he used condoms but how would I know if that was true or not? It is hard to descibe what it feels like going to the gynecologist after 20+ of what I thought was a monogamouos marriage to get STD tested, ugh. 😟

@LizBeth I know, sweetie. I was 55 & went to one of those anonymous places. I was amazed that I was OK as he had cheated with 24 guys, that I know of anyway. He admitted he never used protection but I would have been tested anyway. & yeah, it was over the second I found out. Still getting the paperwork done though. I hope the kids never find out what he did.

@Carin I am so sorry you are going through this. It took me a few years to realize it was over. Divorce was final in January. Doing my best to move forward - I am moving to my new house in a week! Remember that it is not your responsibility to keep his secrets or do any image management for him. His shameful behavior is his to own. If you have not found this website yet go to www.chumplady.com

@LizBeth Thanks for the website! It is hard to get help & support as obviously I can't go confide in the neighbors or even local friends. Sure would be fun to out him, but my 12 year old twin boys would suffer if gossip got around. I hope you have a wonderful new life in your new house!

No, never.

Absolutely not! Despite being cheated on a few times. I'm bitter, but it's not the next guy's fault.

I was just a kid. I passed Go and collected $500

Yes when I was in my early twenties and I am still ashamed of it. I did it from having low self esteem, when someone else paid me attention I ran with it. I have never forgotten it and I am still disappointed with myself.
