Riding past Newark Airport on my way into NYC. Watching airplanes take off and land has never failed to amaze me ever since I can remember; a simple pleasure that still gives me a thrill. I even look at the sky to see the traffic pattern as they're lined up to come in. Once I even saw the Concorde land... Airplane travel never ceases to amaze me, how such a heavy piece of metal can take flight and get you on the other side of the world in less than a day.

Nope, as he’s nearing retirement as a pilot.
I’ve reason to frequent the Dulles Airport near DC … often feeling like a country bumpkin ..stopping to look up as one floats over. And when I fly - I want a window seat ..so I can watch the wings flex 
As my friend described, ‘you need to view the air as liquid,’ ‘and picture the plane moving through water,’ ‘only faster.’
He’s got some amazing stories! ..we’ll have smoke out some day and catch up..

I feel the same way when I put water, soap and dirty clothes in a washer and 45 minutes later they are wet but clean. Amazing... seen that sight, always wondering when I fly... Is this my last flight? Got a buddy just learned to fly... bucket list I presume. Bravo Zulu for him... Fearless!

We were just talking about air travel somewhere else here. Your post reminds me of how I used to feel about airports, waiting for my grandmother to arrive, or waving good bye. But for me, times have changed.
Did you see the Concorde land in Hawai'i? That's where I saw it. I also knew people who had flown on one.

At JFK in NYC. I understand they could only take off and land at certain airports where the runway was long enough.
Must have been awesome to fly on one of those things.
