Though is not a recent article the question of ethics in Gunther von Hagens' remains.
Over the years Dr von Hagens used bodies of dubious origines. Though he returned two corpses of executed prisoners many questions regarding the origines of the corpses turned artworks from profit remain unanswered. The famous anatomist had very good connections to Bo XiLai and his wife Gu KaiLai, the former in party detention for offences against the socialist principles and the later in prison for having killed her lover.

All round fascinating story ...

Back to ethics

Years ago it became evident that some plates in a very well made anatomical atlas had been produced using the corpses of executed prisoners of the Vienna Gestapo. Now this came to light after the atlas had been widely distributed and used for teaching purposes in numberous universities.

The question was whether it should be recalled on ethical grounds?

I don't think we need to get into a lot of detail or explanation about why the mother & baby being displayed like that is unethical. I don't know anything at all about the atlases though.
