What does everyone else do for physical exercise? I thought this was like riding a bike. So not. Eventually I got it with the help of my significant other.

I roller skated through most of my adulthood, but in my case, I couldn't just skate normally..I had to dance skate, spin, leap, dance sideways, do leaps into the air with spins. I'd go into the center of the roller skating rink so I didn't bother people.

I put plastic baby roller skates on my kids as they learned to walk and they skated around the house until it seemed as natural to them as walking. Of course I bought them regular skates as they grew older. At the roller rink they won all the "How Low Can You Go" lambada contests as toddlers since they were so short.

I wondered if my skills would translate to ice skates so started ice skating, and found that it was twice as easy with ice skates since I didn't have to keep the wheels turning in one direction. I could spin and leap so much better, letting the blade edges slow or stop me. I could reverse directions effortlessly.

We had a small farm pond so we'd go skating there at night if it had been well below freezing during the day. The kids and their cousins played ice hockey with plastic equipment.

But I'm that way. At 65 I doubt I'd take it up again..at least I hope not. I can't trust that I'd just skate sedately.

Girl you are braver than me! I’m pretty sure I’d break something if I put on skates.

I hike! Slow or with the destination in mind. Great exercise AND exploring

I hike too. I had to try to skate again to move past fear. Weird I know. I was hit by a drunk driver when I was walking about a year and a half ago. I was afraid of everything after that from high heels to physical activity. I was so afraid of falling.

@Iamkratom well you look fearless now!!! Great job lady. I’m proud of you!

When my grandmother turned 50 she started walking everyday. She is 80 now and we don't know where the hell she is.

You might want to think about getting Palm guards for your hands it hurts really bad when you get road rash on your hands if you fall forward and catch yourself on your palms of your hands

Omg I thought the exact same thing! I put skates on at a kid's birthday party thinking, "I did this when I was younger, no big deal. Just like riding a bike." No it's not. I really hurt myself. But I bet I looked funny.

My dad is this walk everywhere guy. I tried that, it was relaxing at first. After a while though I was just counting steps.

I'm not the most fit guy, but lately I've had a lot of success just by lifting. I have to do better incorporating cardio into it, but between what I get, the lifting, counting calories and cutting out anything to drink but water and whiskey I'm making steady progress.

I do daily workouts with my Bowflex, sometimes ride mountian bike, ride dirt bikes, hike, and kayak. Please use more protection. Especially for your hands and wrists!Have fun.

i always take the stairs

Me too. Always have ever since I was a kid. Friends think I'm a little eccentric.

@rogueflyer I just made the committment recently. It is 5 floors to my office and I make numerous trips daily

@btroje Good for you! It gets easier and in about two weeks you'll be looking for stairs to climb.

Rollerskating is great. I was a big rollerblader, now mostly a cyclist and do kettlebell routines and much core work such as planks.

Weightlifting, hiking, running, snowshoeing. Stretching afterward.

Hiking is my passion. In 2017 I set a personal record by hiking 326 miles with over 63,200 feet of elevation gain.

Hiking is a transcedent, uplifting experience for me. I feel most centered and grounded high in the mountains.

Hiking photos in Washington State:

Enjoying beautiful Spider Meadows; Pacific Crest Trail near Stevens Pass; climbing Rock Mountain; and Minotaur Lake from the summit Labyrinth Mountain.
