Aren't they both the same thing? Isnt the first step of finding out something, both inventing & discovering hten doing that over and over till you get results. I remember vaguely a history channel program where I think the Mesopotamians had the edge on europaens because they used all their knuckles for counting plus the spaces in between the fingers so they had more options.
