Over the last year or so I've been taking travellers from other countries for short (2 to 4 weeks) trips through our Great Barrier Reef waters on my yacht, and have noticed that a majority of the ones from Nth America, (US. and Canada,) seem to be sporting both facial and other body piercings. Do you think that this is common there or is it just something that is more pronounced amoung those that travel? And what seems to be promoting this there, I'm not seeing it in those from Europe and Asia?

I live in the southeast portion of the States and yes, more and more people are sporting tatoo and piercings. I thought they were being influenced by the Aussies.

It is common here in Canada among a certain age group the same age group that is likely to be travelling abroad. I thing it is just a style trend. My eldest step daughter had several but, stopped wearing the bangles as she got older, she says it was a kid thing to do now.
