Do you remember where you were when you saw this movie for the first time? I was in the Roxie Theatre and it was the summer of 79'.

We’d stand outside the theater’s overflow exits (either side of the screen) ..then sneak in and sit up front for the next showing.. as others left, smiling 🙂

OMG!

With my MOTHER!

And far from being outraged and dragging us out....

She was laughing at all the pot jokes.

Now, understand I was a very late Bonus baby. People were always thinking my mom was my grandmother.

When I asked about it -

"When I was young I knew Jazz musicians. You kids didn't invent pot."

I was mortified in the moment. But, as she generally came off as a church-going Polly Perfect, I should have welcomed this revelation.

My mom was a Beatnik, too 😀
