Most Extensive Priest Abuse in PA - Carryover of New England Abuse - My Ex BF was a Victim
Eliminating Celibacy would be a good start. It no longer belongs & then they could have their women. Allowing Women Priests would be good too.
Granted, those would be good things, but they don't address the pedophilia that runs rampant in the Catholic church. Nor does the number of priests who are homosexuals. It also doesn't count those priests who have heterosexual relationships.
Pedophiles are logically drawn to positions which place them in contact with children. Given the Catholic Church's history of allowing pedo priests to act basically unrestricted, it's quite appealing. I believe there should also be charges brought against the church hierarchy for knowing and not reporting their priests.
I am very glad I never was an alter boy.
They've released most of the list and some of the details. It's horrendous, and they acknowledge that, although they have details of 1,000 victims, they're sure the numbers are much higher.
One would think ignoring the details of known sexual abuse would be a crime, but the Catholics seem to be getting away with it. I'm sorry for your ex BF, particularly because it's doubtful he'll receive any justice.
I haven't spoken to him in 28 years - there was a trial in New England -guessing he would have been involved.
@sassygirl3869 The New England one was a biggie, so I hope he was. It's so tragic.
