No. They are a hotdog.

Even though a hot dog is a meat item hugged by a bread item, you have a sub roll being called a submarine or sub(some places call it a hero), ground beef charbroiled patty a hamburger, and a sandwich which is classified as two slices of bread with stuff in the middle. You also have wraps using a tortilla and the gyro which is a class by itself needing a pita. Anyway my answer would be no, a hot dog cannot be called a sandwich. But that's just me.

Just consumed a vegan dog for lunch, and this is a serious question that deserves contemplation!!

Further thought on the subject... a dog is a dog. A wich is a wich. To different species.

I believe there us a national debate about this if I'm not mistaken. I don't think the " dog" people want to be lumped in with sandwiches
