So I was raised Catholic and still remember the day I was sitting in RE at school and suddenly thinking "this is all bollocks". Shortly after that my mum told me that she thought I was old enough to make my own decisions about going to church and I never went again. I was 15.
My now ex wife and I did get our children baptised as catholics, but purely because the best primary and secondary schools in the area are Catholic faith schools. Now, my thinking is that they're both intelligent kids and they'll come to the same decision I did on their own. This and the fact I obviously don't want them getting in trouble at school means I have always been carefully not to air my views around them, but sometimes it's so difficult.
Am I doing the right thing? What if they get completely taken in?
seems like your just storing up future problems whether your kids believe or not is their choice but by lying by omission you are risking becoming a person they might not feel they can trust in later life think how you would feel if a friend lied to you for 10 yrs then admitted the lie and expected life to continue as it was, decent people might get past the lie but are going to remember it and also judge your future actions on it.
Why would you deliberately send your kids to be indoctrinated into lies and possibly molested?
You could be endangering your kids with all the pedophile activity in the Catholic church..the recently exposed, vast Pennsylvania Catholic church pedophile ring is the tip of the iceberg.
