The self-driving car is a tremendous technological advancement. Having said that, as often as my computer crashes (and I'm a computer geek that knows how to maintain mine... I built it) I'm still frightened of the damned things.
A lot of work still remains to perfect it specially if it's going to interact in a smart city. I've studied digital forensics and have a degree in cyber security and boy this will be a nightmare for us!
@MissKathleen I think it will be inevitable, but the chances of malicious hacking will be unprecedented.
Insurance thought leadership is also puzzling over this dilemma. I have no idea how far the technology may advance, but until that technology is secure, it is not an idea that appeals to me.
@skye724 Urbanization is killing the planet. Some cities have already engaged in some form or another to make themselves "smart". Smart cars are still vulnerable but I believe we will sort out the bugs. I'm most fascinated with smart farming in cities at the moment. A lot of material out there as well as how to keep the system safe from hacking.
